The Holy God of Israel’s Plan of Eternal Life
God’s plan of eternal life with Him is very
simple. It involves placing one faith
entirely in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, as your Savior. There is nothing complicated about this.
“For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
There are several doctrines in the Bible which lead
to salvation in His only begotten Son. The
Bible establishes very clear doctrines in the Hebrew Scriptures which the Lord
Jesus fulfilled in the New Testament. The following is through study of God’s plan of eternal life with
Him.
The headings below show the
foundation verse in the Hebrew Scriptures followed by the fulfillment in the
New Testament. You can see that the
holy God of Israel clearly shows the way to eternal life with Him. His plan for eternal life is the same for
all mankind, both the Jew and Gentile.
God revealed Himself as
holy while all of mankind is sinful and in rebellion against Him. The Bible reveals God's plan of reconciling
sinful man to Himself. We earn the
death penalty for this rebellion against God. His plan for salvation reconciles His holiness, which demands the
death penalty, and His love which wants to reconcile sinful man with Him. There is no way of receiving eternal life
outside of God's plan.
God's plan for atonement of
sin in the Hebrew Scriptures calls for an innocent animal to die in place of
the sinner. The shed blood then atones for the sin. In the New Testament
God's King Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, provides this atonement and remission
for sin which is His death and shed blood completes.
In God's plan, we must
believe that God alone is the Savior, and we cannot save ourselves from sin. We must repent of sin and call
on the name of the LORD for salvation, confessing that the Lord Jesus is the
only begotten Son of God and Lord and Savior. With this confession of faith,
God brings us into a blood covenant relationship with Him. This covenant
includes the total forgiveness of sin and eternal life with God.
The God of Israel is Holy
“And one
cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole
earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:3.
“And the
four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes
within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God
Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4:8.
God is Love
“Only the LORD had a delight
in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above
all people, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 10:15.
“In this was manifested the
love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9.
The Effect of Adam Sin Was Universal,
All of Mankind Now Separated From God
“And the
LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:
and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and
eat, and live for ever”… (24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the
east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every
way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Genesis 3:22-24.
“Wherefore,
as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed
upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Romans 5:12.
The Result of Man's Sin Was Death
“But of the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the
day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:17.
“For the
wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” Romans 6:23.
Man Cannot Save Himself From Sin,
But Needs an Atonement For Sin
“And he
shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the
children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and
so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among
them in the midst of their uncleanness.” Leviticus 16:16.
My little
children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin,
we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (2) And he is
the propitiation (atonement) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for
the sins of the whole world.” 1John 2:1, 2.
The Atonement Means a Vicarious Death For
Sin.
The Innocent Died for the Guilty
“And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the
head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children
of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon
the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the
wilderness” Leviticus 16:21
“For Christ also hath once suffered for
sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to
death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” 1Peter 3:18
The Atonement Means the Shedding of Blood For
Sin
“For the
life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to
make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement
for the soul.” Leviticus 17:11.
“And from
Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood.” Revelation 1:5.
You Must Believe That God's Righteous Servant, King Messiah,
Jesus of Nazareth
Died in Your Place for
“He shall
see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall
my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
(12)...he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the
transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.” Isaiah 53:11.
“Who his
own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to
sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1Peter
2:24.
God Alone is the Savior
“Behold,
God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is
my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation” Isaiah 12:2.
“To the
only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now
and for ever. Amen.” Jude 1:25.
God Requires Repentance of Sin
“The sacrifices
of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not
despise. (19) Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks
upon thine altar” Psalm 51:17.
“And the
times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where
to repent” Acts 17:30.
God Requires That Everyone Call Upon His Name
for Salvation
“And I will
bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is
refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I
will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my
God.” Zechariah 13:9.
“For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13.
Calling on the Name of the LORD,
Means Confessing Jesus of Nazareth
As Your Lord and Savior
“That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9.
King Messiah is the Only Begotten Son of God
“Yet have I
set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (7) I will declare the decree: the LORD
hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten.” Psalm 2:6.
“For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting.” John 3:16.
When You Follow God's Plan of Salvation
You Enter into a Blood Covenant Relationship With Him
“And he
took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they
said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. (8) And Moses took
the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the
covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.” Exodus
24:7.
“For this
is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of
sins.” Matthew 26:28.
“Now the
God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant” Hebrews
13:20.
Right now, you can obey God's plan for eternal
life. You can now enter into a blood
covenant relationship with the holy God of Israel. This eternal covenant is in the blood of God's King Messiah,
Jesus of Nazareth
Assurance of Eternal Life
God's requirement for you to have assurance of
eternal life is to maintain or hold fast your confession of faith. The confession is that Jesus of Nazareth is
your Lord and Savior. The Book of
Hebrews encourages us to firmly hold fast the confession of your faith to the
end and not to waiver.
“Seeing
then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus
the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” Hebrews 4:14.
“Let
us hold fast the profession of our faith
without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)” Hebrews 10:23.
It is important to remember that God warns you must
hold this confession must to the end. We
must guard our hearts from the deceitfulness of sin so we do not become
hard. Sin hardened hearts can lead us
away from holding fast the confession of faith, carrying us further away from
the Gospel of Truth. The Scriptures are
clear that you must hold steadfast the confession of Jesus Christ until the end
to be a partaker in the salvation of the Lord Jesus
“But Christ
as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence
and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” Hebrews 3:6.
“Take heed,
brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing
from the living God. (13) But exhort one another daily, while it is called To
day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. (14) For we
are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence
stedfast unto the end.” Hebrews 3:12-14.
God warns that those who renounce their confession of the Lord Jesus draw back into perdition. His true believers must stand firm, hold steadfast and believe until the very end.
“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (39) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul” Hebrews 10:38.
